Get well soon, Alan

Alan and I knew each other for a year, when I was still doing my undergraduate final year project. Alan is a nice and caring guy, like a big brother to me. He is a senior of mine by 3 years and already stepped out into working life, where he helped his mother in family business. His family owns the shoe empire with the brand 'Princess' and has many outlets throughout KL. However, to this date, I have never been to any of his shoes shops yet.

Alan had an accident and as a result of this, one of his fingers is crooked and he was upset about it. When this happened, I was too busy with studies and never had the chance to visit him in the hospital or ask about his well-being properly. I felt bad about this whenever we talked about the accident which happened early this year.

Recently, Alan got admitted into hospital again, this time is wound infection on his thigh. I thought to myself that I must visit him this time and therefore, after doing my daily workouts, I quickly made my way to Sunway Medical Centre which is about 30 minutes drive from where I stay. I was so lucky that I did not take any wrong route using Waze.
Me and Alan

I went to Tower B, only to know that all wards are located in Tower A. After searching for the ward for a few minutes, I found him finally, lying on the bed and he was surprised to see my presence. We talked a bit about his condition before his friend, Roy came in with fruits. I realized I came empty-handed and felt embarrassed, lol. Alan asked Roy to buy some food and only then I knew, Roy is no ordinary friend to Alan.

Before I left, I got to speak with Roy and from that conversation, I knew he is from my hometown, a senior of mine by 2 years and is currently doing his PhD in Monash University. We shared our experience in science and he is a handsome and nice guy to talk with. It was 9 pm and I decided to leave for dinner and bid farewell to both of them. I am glad that I could visit Alan this time. Get well soon, Alan =)

Interview at Celebrity Fitness

After spending 160 MYR on fixing my car brakes, I felt broke and decided to take up a part-time job. Hence, I made my way back to the room and completed the resume, headed out to Midvalley. Jonathan and I agreed to meet up for a simple dinner and a movie, afterwards. Upon reaching, I walked slowly into Celebrity Fitness with my heart beating fast. I did not know why, probably because there were so many hot guys and girls. At a corner, I saw a local celebrity, Henley Hii sitting with his friend and playing with his phone. Many friends of mine claimed up to 70% resemblance between the two of us but of course, he is better looking. I did not ask to take a photograph with him or went up to him. I asked for a person to refer to due to my job application and was asked to fill in the application form. I filled up the details, thinking that I do not need to submit my resume anymore. Then, this Chinese guy who claimed to be the assistant manager of the club, interviewed me after I submitted the form.

Henley Hii (He is better looking than me)

Seriously, I think I screwed up. I thought I was prepared for the interview but I was not. My mind went blank and I gave stupid answers. I could see that the A.M seriously gave second thought on my application. However, he still explained the details to me: working hours, wages, commission, etc. He even told me that this job is only on full-time basis and no part-time. How am I going to split myself into two when I want to focus on my research as well? Besides, I am leaving Malaysia next year, so I turned off the application.

Jonathan and I went for a simple dinner and we watched 'Extraterrestrials'. The beginning was okay but the director ridiculed his audience in the end. The ending was so abrupt that I really want to punch the director in the face. It was getting late and we parted our ways. At the same time, Dixon and Yang were helping an old man to get to Klang Port from KL Sentral, so I decided to wait for them when I reached my university's station. Forty minutes of waiting and they finally reached. I dropped them off at their room and quickly made my way back to mine, where I slept like a pig.

IQ Test

Out of boredom, I sat in the research lab and planned to do some readings on my project while having my Facebook logged in. From the notification, I saw one of my friends did an IQ test and her score is 130. I have always wanted to know my IQ level, is it average or below average, haha. Hence, I took up this IQ test which I must complete in 25 minutes. The result? My score is 124, lower than my friend's but still acceptable.

Then, I want to know where I fall in the binomial distribution so, this will definitely shed some light.

Yay, I am in the high intelligence group, constituting 13.6 % of the global population. Can never reach 160, huh? Anyway, either this test is accurate or not, it is worth to try, at least to let you know where you stand and for me, the result made my day.

I was not convinced if I could do PhD but this statistic just made me gain some confidence, luckily I was over the bar line but hey, the IQ level may change overtime? Gotta keep on thinking so that my brain does not get rusty.

An Afternoon at The Big Bad Wolf

Today marks the annual largest book fair in Malaysia, The Big Bad Wolf. Seriously, this is the second time I have visited this book fair. Previously, I have heard of this event during my 3 years of undergraduate studies but never seem to wanna go because I am not a book guy. The first time I went was the fair in Ipoh and now it is held at The Mines, Serdang. Just a few stations away from my university's station, The Mines is considered the nearest KL shopping mall to us. Honestly, I prefer to go to Midvalley.

In fact, i didnt want to go but to keep Jonathan a company, I decided to spend my afternoon there. Jonathan is a friend whom I got to know from Kenny. We have never met before and decided to meet for the first time at the book fair. Upon reaching, Jonathan was already queuing up at the McDonald's to buy his lunch and I joined the queue. He wanted to buy Happy Meal and get the Penguin toys for his nephew. Dressed in smart and suave attire, Jonathan is charming in his own way. He had his second button unbuttoned and I heard two guys in the queue whispered that he was sexy. To add to that point, Jonathan is a well-built young lad due to his years of gym engagement.

We quickly finished off our lunch and took a walk around the Mines, entered the boutiques and looked at the newly-arrived shirts. After that, we made our way to the convention centre where the book fair was. It was not heavily crowded and so, wasnt suffocated in that confined area. He chose a language book and a kid's book for his nephew. We had small talks whilst choosing the books and he is a very chatty person, in a good way. Our legs were tired after miles of walking and he suggested that we sit down for dessert so we chose Tong Pak Fu and shared the green tea ice floss. All the while, he was very close to me and we noticed that the waitress was uncomfortable with us. This reflects how conservative our society is but I didnt care how people will judge us.

Since Jonathan wanted to leave around 4, he went to Celebrity Fitness to take his belongings (CF member) and knowing my intention to work with CF as a personal trainer, he decided to help me to ask the staffs.

Jonathan: Does becoming a CF trainer has to possess a certificate?
Staff: It depends on the assistant manager, you would have to meet him. Could you leave us your details?
Jonathan: Oh, I am not asking for myself
Staff: Then, you are asking on whose behalf?
Jonathan: I am asking on my boyfriend's behalf

The staffs giggled and laughed before Jonathan left with me. Being naughty and playful in nature, he is indeed a good friend. He advised me to work in Midvalley's CF and hence, I will be going there one day with my resume to apply for this part-time job. Before we parted our ways, we hugged each other and promised to meet again.

Bromance, the movie

After came back to the room from the second skin treatment, I was exhausted and wanted to crash on bed. However, my mind was awake and wanted to watch something to keep myself entertained. Hence, I opened my laptop and started to browse on YouTube to see if there is something that can catch my attention. Indeed, a Thai gay movie, released in 2013 with the name Bromance caught my sight and I decided to spend the next 1 hour and a half watching the entire movie.

To cut the long story short, the plot is about a widowed father married a widowed mother, both have a son. Golf, the son of the father and Bank, the son of the mother. Golf is 4 months older than Bank so he is the older brother and disliked Bank at first. He bullied his younger bro in school and also, at home. However, the two got closer and shared the same room. Their relationship slowly turned from brotherhood into love. Of course, the plot will not be perfect without a love rival, Tom who was after Bank. However, happy moments do not last long when Golf's aunt found out their forbidden love and told their parents. The father asked for their break up and took Golf to the America for study, leaving Bank alone in Thailand.
Pongsathorn Siripinta as Bank

He waited Golf for 6 months before they were reunited one day-with Golf bringing his girlfriend home. Devastated, Bank accepted Tom's courtship but Golf was not happy. They quarreled a lot and it was later revealed that Golf and his girlfriend were plotting for a false engagement so that Golf could be with Bank. Not noticing this, Bank dated Tom and when Tom forced him to have sex with him, Bank broke up with Tom and went back home with his messy appearance. Jealousy overwhelmed Golf and he confronted Bank at the side of the road when there was a heated argument that led both of them being knocked down by a car. Golf survived with minor injuries and Bank was with internal organ damage-needed kidney transplant. Golf quickly agreed to donate his kidney to Bank and saved his life. Then, Golf went missing and Bank was told that he headed to America for study. A year later, on Bank's birthday, an unknown present was found and he opened it to find the couple rings Golf bought. A letter accompanied by the gift, stated that by the time Bank read this, Gold had died from a brain tumor and how much Golf loves Bank. Golf also kept his promise that he did not leave Bank because part of him (kidney), moves on with Bank. Bank broke down and the movie ended with Bank, moved on with his life and visited Golf's grave with his friends.

Theerapat Lohanunth as Golf

This movie is truly a nice one and made me realized that love is still out there, giving me hope for the least. I reminisced how the plot resembled my situation 8 years ago, where I was also being forced to break up with my bf due to family pressure. By watching this, I feel so touched and sad, of course that two persons who love each other cannot be together, limited by gender. I strongly agreed with Golf of what he told his fiancee.

Golf: "How is it so unnaturally to love a guy? Arent you supposed to love someone based on how they are on the inside? Does it have to be based on gender?"

I was so touched by this sentence and love is blind, it is not restricted by age, race, religion and gender. After watching this movie, I thought to myself, why have I not met someone like Golf? Someone who was willing to go all out in protecting his loved ones? At the same time, I felt so empty and alone. I was wondering, why does the ending have to be so cruel? The director just simply kill off Golf by saying that he had been diagnosed with brain tumor. The starting of the story is really inspiring to all gays, giving them hope that true love may exist and to quest for one, needs courage. However, the ending, just took the hope and we are back to square one. Not many gay movies have happy ending and many ended with either of the characters dying. It indirectly tells us that gay love is always sad and has no future. This is not true and I am patiently waiting for my right one =)

Thursday Morning

Waking up today, I thought to myself that it had been ages since I last wrote a post on blogspot. Never updated my blog and went missing for more than a year due to laziness. After taking the morning shower, I decided to log into my account and deleted the previous posts, to start anew. Here am I, a new blog for myself for a brand new life. This is also the only place where I can dump all my feelings and express dissatisfaction and whine on petty matters so, I guess its kinda fun to start writing again. The boredom in postgraduate's life has prompt me to seek excitement in the cyber world. Born in early 90s, I aint an undergraduate and has passed those glory days, where bunch of crazy friends joke and laugh with you wherever you go. Graduated recently, my friends are all in the early stage of their working life and Im still retaining in my alma mater to enrich knowledge in a specialized field. Well, I guess workout is another hobby of mine to kill time aside from doing endless paper readings and research. I try not to look geek and nerd for being a postgraduate and in concurrent to that, live up to fashion and healthy lifestyle. Below is a picture of mine after 2 years of home workout =)

Yes, you read it right, it was a result of home workout and guess thats whats limiting me from becoming buffer and just merely toning up chest lines and also, waist lines. Pardon for the block of face using smartphone but thats not the face Im emphasizing on =). I would regard myself as normal looking with lots of acne scars, a flaw as a result of teen age puberty. Became more beauty-conscious and signed up for a 3-times skin laser treatment at the Glo Skin Laser, Midvalley for only 238 MYR (quite reasonable). Hopefully the flawless skin will be restored in no time.
